BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY A SOUTH CAROLINA MAN SWIPED LOTTERY TICKETS DURING A JOB INTERVIEW AT A GAS STATION… AND NOW FACES THREE CRIMINAL CHARGES AFTER TRYING TO CASH A FIVE-DOLLAR WINNER.
Antonio Levon Ricardo Stewart was interviewing for a job in Florence, South Carolina, according to station WLTX.
On May 6, 2025, that interview took place inside a Murphy USA gas station.
While being interviewed for the position, Stewart allegedly swiped several scratch-off lottery tickets from the potential employer.
According to a warrant, the prospective hire took six of the tickets from the store.
Then Stewart attempted to cash them.
He took the six tickets and tried to redeem them at three other retail stores, according to the warrant.
Two of those businesses were located on the very same strip as the Murphy USA gas station.
Yet the scratch-offs yielded very little return.
All in all, only one of the six tickets ended up being a winner, authorities said.
That single winning ticket was worth just $5.
Authorities said Stewart was caught trying to cash the five-dollar prize.
Stewart was arrested last week, WLTX reported.
Following the arrest, he was booked into the Florence County jail.
Stewart was charged on three counts of intent to defraud game tickets.
And records show he secured his release shortly thereafter.
Stewart posted a $5,000 bond on Aug. 26, according to records.
Stewart could not be reached for comment.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
