BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY 24-YEAR-OLD BRENNAN MATA BROKE INTO A SLEEPING WOMAN’S APARTMENT AND STOLE HER CASH AND BANK CARD… AND NOW HE FACES A FIRST-DEGREE BURGLARY CHARGE AFTER A NEIGHBOR FILMED HIM FLEEING TO HIS OWN UNIT.
On August 31, 2026, officers responded to an emergency call reporting a burglary in progress.
The call brought police to the Union Point Apartments in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
That residential complex is located near 41st Street and 130th East Avenue.
Officers arrived at the property at around 10:36 p.m.
Inside one of the units, a woman had been sleeping when the disturbance began.
She told police she woke up after hearing someone knocking on her apartment door.
The resident walked around to her patio to investigate the commotion.
She saw 24-year-old Brennan Mata at the window.
Mata was ripping the screen from the window frame.
He then forced his way inside the apartment.
The woman ran outside to get help.
But Mata allegedly remained inside and rummaged through her belongings.
Authorities said he stole a handful of cash from the apartment.

Authorities said he also took the woman’s bank card before leaving the unit.
A neighbor was outside helping the victim.
That neighbor recorded video of Mata walking away from the apartment.
The recording captured him running through the apartment complex.
Upon arrival, officers reviewed the video recorded by the neighbor.
The footage showed a man leaving the victim’s apartment and running across the property.
Then officers used the neighbor’s video to locate the suspect.
After reviewing the video, officers tracked Mata to another unit within the same complex.
Investigators said Mata lived inside that unit.
Officers walked up to the apartment and knocked on the door.
And Mata answered.
He was immediately taken into custody by the officers.
Police booked him into the Tulsa County Jail.
He was booked on a charge of first-degree burglary after a former felony conviction.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
