“I AM READY FOR WORK”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY VIRGINIA TEACHER SHANNON SANDERS ARRIVED AT HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLY INTOXICATED AT 7:30 A.M.… AND AUTHORITIES TOOK HER INTO CUSTODY BEFORE THE SCHOOL DAY GOT UNDERWAY.
A 40-year-old Virginia teacher was arrested Thursday morning after staff reported she appeared intoxicated on campus.
Shannon Sanders, of Clifton, was taken into custody at Manassas Park High School.
A school resource officer made contact with Sanders on the property around 7:30 a.m.
Police said the officer determined Sanders was “highly intoxicated.”
She was subsequently charged with being drunk in public.
Then officers transported Sanders to the Prince William-Manassas regional jail.
Authorities said she would be held at the jail facility until sober.

According to school officials, Sanders had just arrived on campus when staff members noticed her concerning behavior.
But officials stated that Sanders was not supervising, teaching or interacting with students at that time.
No students were involved in the incident.
And no students were placed in danger, school officials confirmed.
Sanders is identified online as a special education teacher.
She has since been placed on administrative leave while the case remains pending.
The school district noted that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and prohibited substances on school grounds.
Police reiterated that she was already determined to be “highly intoxicated” by 7:30 a.m.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
