More than a decade after a fatal blaze killed three members of his family, Michael Pilato is up for parole.
In December 2011, a fire broke out at a home on Cardile Drive in Webster.
Pilato was 15 years old at the time.
Authorities say he poured gasoline throughout his adopted family’s house.
He then deliberately set the structure on fire, according to authorities.
The blaze proved fatal for three people inside.
His father was killed.
His two brothers were also killed in the fire.
But two other members of the household survived.
His mother escaped the burning home.
His sister escaped the flames as well.
Pilato was ultimately convicted for the killings.
In 2013, he was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Now, that minimum prison sentence has caught up with the calendar.
A parole hearing for Pilato is scheduled for this week.
Parole officials must now decide whether he should remain behind bars.
And they will consider whether the convicted killer should be given an opportunity to return to society.
He was 15 when he committed the triple homicide.
The justice system treats juvenile offenders differently because of youth.
Yet youth does not erase three deaths.
Three people died because of the fire authorities said he deliberately set inside his own family’s house.
His father died there.
His brothers died there.
Roughly 15 years have passed since the fire on Cardile Drive.
Now, state officials face the question of parole.
They must weigh the age of the offender.
They must weigh the triple homicide.
The hearing takes place this week.
