“NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW WHAT HAPPENS BACK HERE”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY AN OREGON MAN BARRICADED HIMSELF INSIDE A JEWELRY STORE WITH WEAPONS AFTER AN ALLEGED ASSAULT ON A JUVENILE… AND HE NOW FACES ATTEMPTED MURDER AND SEX ABUSE CHARGES AS INVESTIGATORS EXAMINE A CONCEALED ROOM.
An investigation began last Thursday in Cornelius, Oregon, after a juvenile reported an assault to local law enforcement.
The juvenile walked directly into the Cornelius Police Department to report the incident.
During the report, the juvenile provided authorities with an address.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to that location.
The address led deputies to Blue Sapphire Jewelry LLC, a business located inside the Plaza Grande complex.
Upon arrival, responding deputies encountered 42-year-old Daniel Le Brun.
Authorities said Le Brun had barricaded himself inside the jewelry store.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Le Brun allegedly possessed several less-lethal-style guns and knives.
He refused to surrender to the responding deputies.
Deputies deployed a drone inside the business to track his actions.
The drone monitored Le Brun’s movements while crisis negotiators attempted to communicate with him.
The standoff between Le Brun and law enforcement stretched late into the night.
It continued past midnight and into the early morning hours.
At approximately 1 a.m. Friday, deputies took Le Brun into custody.
Authorities said Le Brun had ingested a potentially lethal amount of medication.
Because of the ingestion, emergency responders took him to a hospital instead of immediately booking him into a detention facility.
Le Brun remained hospitalized under medical care until Tuesday.
Following his release from the hospital on Tuesday, authorities transported him to the local jail.
Le Brun was booked into the Washington County Jail on multiple criminal charges.

Deputies booked him on one count of first-degree attempted murder.
He was also booked on a charge of first-degree assault.
Authorities charged him with first-degree sex abuse.
In addition, he faces a charge of unlawful use of a weapon.
But investigators said the physical examination of the alleged crime scene revealed another dimension to the case.
Detectives searched the interior of Blue Sapphire Jewelry LLC.
Inside the commercial space, detectives discovered a concealed room.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators believe that hidden area is where the alleged crimes took place.
The discovery led detectives to broaden their inquiry beyond the initial report.
Authorities said they are concerned there could be more victims.
That concern is driven by the belief that Le Brun had access to children through his connection to the business.
Officials initially identified Le Brun as the owner of the jewelry store.
Yet the Washington County Sheriff’s Office later retracted that statement.
Sheriff’s officials clarified that his exact relationship to the business remains under active investigation.
Authorities are now asking for the public’s help as the investigation continues.
Detectives want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the alleged assault.
Investigators are also asking anyone with additional information concerning Le Brun to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
They are asking witnesses to come forward.
They are asking for any details about his activities.
The investigation remains open.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
