“YOU HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING ME FOR DAYS”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, PROSECUTORS SAY REBECCA ARMSTRONG APPROACHED A STRANGER AT A STOP SIGN AND SHOT HER IN THE FACE… AND A JUDGE HAS FOUND HER NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF MENTAL DISEASE OR DEFECT.
In July 2023, Altovise McCloud was sitting inside her vehicle at a stop sign in Moody, Alabama.
She was simply stopped on the roadway.
Then another vehicle came to a halt nearby.
Rebecca Armstrong suddenly stepped out of that car and walked directly toward McCloud.
Armstrong confronted her immediately.
She accused McCloud of following her for days.
According to McCloud, she had never seen Armstrong before in her life.
McCloud told the woman that she had no idea who she was.
She had done nothing to initiate any contact with the driver.
Then Armstrong allegedly pulled out a gun.
Witnesses in the area watched the shooting unfold.
A bullet tore directly through McCloud’s hand and struck her in the face.
The gunfire shattered a portion of her jaw.

Hart County carjacking suspect Michael Ryan Morris, 37, who had an active warrant, was arrested trying to enter a home.
It also left additional severe injuries across her mouth and fingers.
Yet McCloud survived the attack.
Authorities subsequently charged Armstrong with attempted murder and other felonies in connection with the July 2023 shooting.
Prosecutors later stated that the incident should not even be described as road rage.
They noted that McCloud had done nothing to provoke the encounter before being shot.
During the course of the case, Armstrong was moved from jail to undergo mental health treatment.
She was later released into the care of her family under strict court conditions.
Those terms mandated electronic monitoring as well as constant supervision.
On Aug. 25, a judge reviewed the case and delivered a verdict.
The court found Armstrong not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
A judge concluded that mental illness was legally responsible for the violent act.
With that ruling, the criminal case regarding the shooting has now concluded.
Armstrong has since been committed to Bryce Hospital.
She will remain under the direct care of the Alabama Department of Mental Health until further notice.
