“HE JUST NEEDED HELP SLEEPING”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY A FLORIDA MOTHER GAVE HER INFANT MEDICATIONS BEFORE HE DIED WITH COCAINE IN HIS SYSTEM, CARED FOR A SECOND CHILD WHO OVERDOSED, AND IS NOW JAILED UNDER A $270,000 BOND.
On December 14, 2025, deputies responded to a residence on North Beach Street in Palatka, Florida.
The call concerned an unresponsive 11-month-old child.
Upon arrival, deputies and emergency personnel began lifesaving measures.
The child was transported to a hospital.
Medical personnel pronounced the infant deceased.
The victim was identified as 11-month-old Xzavion Jahmir Bryant.
A witness who was staying at the residence spoke with detectives.
The witness told investigators that the child’s mother, 22-year-old Diamond Bryant, woke him and said the child was not breathing.
The witness reportedly performed CPR until deputies arrived.
During the investigation, authorities received information regarding substances given to the infant.
Investigators learned that Bryant may have been giving Xzavion a combination of melatonin, Tylenol, and Benadryl to help him sleep.
Investigators requested toxicology testing.
On March 18, 2026, authorities received results showing melatonin, Tylenol, and cocaine in Xzavion’s system.
Investigators said the cocaine findings indicated prior exposure.
But authorities were unable to determine how Xzavion had been exposed.
Another incident occurred at the same home during the ongoing probe.
While detectives were still awaiting toxicology results in the infant’s death, deputies responded to the residence regarding another child who had allegedly overdosed.

Authorities said the second child was not related to Bryant.
The child had been left in her care while the child’s father was at work.
Investigators said the child had reportedly been given melatonin and possibly another substance before the father was unable to wake the child.
The child was transported to a children’s hospital.
The child later made a full recovery.
And the father told investigators that the child tested positive for THC.
Forensic analysis in the infant’s death continued into the late spring.
In May 2026, a child protection team physician reviewed forensic evidence from the death of Bryant’s 11-month-old child.
Authorities said the physician found evidence of neglect involving multiple factors.
Those factors included adults sharing a bed with the child.
They also included multiple substances being present in the child’s system.
On August 27, 2026, detectives obtained an arrest warrant and took Bryant into custody.
Bryant was charged with neglect of a child causing great bodily harm.
She was also charged with child neglect.
In addition, Bryant was charged with possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana.
Her bond was set at $270,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
