A Tennessee teacher is facing an assault charge after allegedly injuring a 4-year-old student inside her classroom, authorities said.
Debra Robertson works as an educator in the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District.
The classroom incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 28, according to an arrest warrant.
Robertson allegedly held the 4-year-old student forcefully around the neck and head while shoving a biscuit into his mouth, investigators said.
The young boy suffered a busted lip during the confrontation, according to court documents. The child was also reportedly left visibly distraught.
District officials said the teacher was removed from the classroom immediately following the incident.

The school district initially placed Robertson on suspension on the day of the encounter, officials said.
After administrators learned she was facing a criminal charge, Robertson remained suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case, the district said.
The child’s mother, Anna Townsend, later spoke publicly about what happened to her son.
Townsend said navigating the situation has been difficult for her family. But she said they are “being strong for our son.”
On Sept. 1, a judicial commissioner found probable cause to support the assault charge, court records show.
Bond for the accused teacher was set at $2,500, according to records.
Robertson has not yet entered a plea to the charge, court records show. She stands accused, not convicted.
